What Makes Us Different
The art students at MVHS reach higher than the average art students. They challenge themselves everyday to become better artists; never hesitating to leave their comfort zone.
Art is an expression of what is within, and the students at MVHS are fully capable of obtaining the skills to express themselves with the aid of our wonderful art teacher, Dan Garcia.
Mr. Garcia teaches his art students a wide variety of subjects ranging from watercolor painting to clay making.

A Few Subjects We Cover Throughout the Year
Printmaking: Prints are created by transferring ink onto a sheet of paper or other material to create a scene from a photograph. Each print is considered an original because no two prints are identical.
Water Color Painting: A painting method in which students may use watercolor pencils. The watercolor pencils draws like any pencils, but when painted over with water, it creates the look of any other method of watercolor painting.
Batik: A method of producing colored designs on textiles of fabric sheets by dyeing them, having first applied wax to the parts that are to be left un-dyed.
Clay Making: Students create clay pieces, either by hand or by the use of a pottery wheel.
Acrylic Painting: The method of using a water-soluble paint that becomes water-resistant when dry to create different pictures.
Photography: Students learn different techniques of taking photos and learn to use the photoshop software.
